Parental Search

For the Parental Search Ar Turas will find out everything we can about either the male or the female side of the family, whichever you choose. We will use a known event in Scotland involving as our start point. From the known event we will trace all branches of the chosen side of the family as far back as records permit.

For example, if we start with the birth of your father we will, if possible, trace both of his parents, all of their parents etc. Naturally some lines will be more successful than others but we will find whatever we can and report it for you. 

We provide full transcripts of all certificates and entries from the Old Parish Registers that we are able to find. You get all the documented information about your ancestors, not just the names and dates.

All this is, of course, accompanied by our hand drawn, manuscript style, family tree to illustrate the relationships.

Although there is no guarantee about how quickly we can complete the research, you can normally expect results in 6 - 8 weeks from the date of order. We will keep you informed of progress by e-mail every 2 weeks.

The fully inclusive cost for a parental search is £140. 

Family Search

The Ar Turas Family Search takes both the paternal and the maternal line back as far as records permit. As with the parental search we will need a known Scottish event and work backwards. A marriage is always a good start point for a family search but we can also use the birth (or death) events of each parent.

You get everything you get with the parental search but covering both sides of the family.

The fully inclusive cost for a family search is £250.
